Perfect location for access to the city centre. Hotel looked a bit dated but you couldn’t find fault: comfortable bed, amenities, good bathroom, tv, slippers, yukata,….

Good
Location was good. Walking distance to the station and near lots of restaurants and bars.
Check out was at 10am. I asked to check out at 10:30 and was told it was not possible. Was given a certain rate by booking.com but upon arrival was told this was is only good if you can prove you've been vaccinated 3 times. They let me stay but I had to pay extra. Doesn't sound fair.

Worth the money to pay for the accommodation near the train station.
Great location! Once you discover the shortcut between the hotel and Yamagata train station, it’s just a quick 4-minute walk to the bus stop for Zao Onsen right in front of the station. The buffet breakfast exceeded our expectations, offering a delightful mix of traditional Japanese dishes and a selection of Western breads. There’s also a nice tea corner, and our favorite was the blueberr There were no glasses or cups for drinking in the room. It felt quite outdated, and on our first night, it was a bit dusty. However, after we requested cleaning, the situation improved on the second night. I recommend asking for a vacuum cleaner right away if you notice any dust.y tea. The hotel seems to be undergoing renovations, as our window was covered with a metal structure, but it didn’t bother us too much. A plus is that all the evening entertainment on the second floor was closed, so it stayed quiet at night. The reception is on the third floor, but without clear signage, you might find it a bit tricky to locate.
There is no glass or cup for drinking. The room is too old and on our first night was quite dusty but when we ask for cleaning the 2nd night is better so I would suggest if you feel like smelling the dust please ask for vacumn cleaner right away.
